Skvělý úspěch hry Ufo: Enemy Unknown podnítil Micro Prose k pokračování této výborné hry. Brzy tedy vyšel nový díl X COM: Terror from the Deep. Od prvního vpádu cizáků (pro sérii X-com specifický překlad slova "aliens", škoda, že tento výraz nerozšířil více) uplynulo dvacet let, a jsou tu znova. Tentokrát jsou to ale vodní druhy a své základny si budují na mořském dně. Zbraně X-comem vyvinuté v prvním díle pod vodou nefungují, a tak budete muset začít úplně od začátku.
Tak, už v tuhle chvíli se rýsuje, že Terror from the Deep je úplně stejný jako jednička. Žádné inovace se nekonají, a to je špatně. I zbraně si typově odpovídají se svými pozemními protějšky. Jenom je vyměněná grafika, nic víc. Mimochodem, jak daleko myslíte, že byste pod vodou dohodili granátem? Chlapi z Micro Prose se s tím prostě nepárali. Jediný moment, kdy je něco jinak, je, že vaše tanky nefungují na souši a při terorech se musíte obejít bez nich. Hrací mapy jsou o poznání větší, ale nevím, zda je to klad. U běžných zásahů asi ano, ale terory (hlavně na lodích) se mění v úmornou nudu. Loď má několik palub (podlaží) a v každé je neskutečné množství kajut, jež jsou ještě členěny na místnosti. A občas se stane, že se nějaký cizák schová v některé kajutě na záchodě a jeho hledání je potom strašlivá a frustrující nuda. Na druhou stranu se mi ale líbilo ničení cizáckých bází. To je rozděleno na dvě části. Napřed musíte vymasakrovat jakousi tvrz na dně moře a teprve potom postupujete do vlastní základny pod zemí. Tam ale stačí zničit ústřední generátor a vrátit se. Kdyby bylo nutné zase všechno vybít, tak by to byla stejná hrůza jako terory na lodích. A báze mají rozumnou architektonickou stavbu, nejspíš je nedělal zaměstnanec Micro Prose, ale nějaký externista. Vcelku se mi také líbí jednotlivé druhy cizáků. Z takového "Brainsuckera" budete brzy šílet. Větší význam než v jedničce tu má obranná střelba.
Grafika je potíž. Je sice rozkreslena pěkně a pečlivěji než v jedničce, ale problém je v onom mořském prostředí. Všechno je laděno do modra a žlutošediva a není to zkrátka příliš atraktivní. Tvůrci si toho byli vědomi, proto dost často uvidíte různé vraky lodí, bedny, všelijaké řasy a tak, ale je to prostě problém. Ostatní je ale velmi dobré - cizáci, báze a i ty terory. Oproti jedničce jsou také navíc pozvolna rozplývající se stopy po trajektorii výstřelu. Vyloženě odbyté jsou ale zvuky a audio vůbec. Tak. Znovu po sobě pročítám recenzi a koukám, že je z většiny kritická. Takže abych to shrnul. Jestli jste nehráli první díl, tak si napřed raději zahrajte ten. Jestli jste ho hráli a líbil se vám, tak X COM: Terror from the Deep vyzkoušejte. Ona to není špatná hra, je fakt, že podmořské prostředí má docela dobrou atmosféru, ale je to spíše jakýsi datadisk, než úplně nová hra.
